Region : Sonoma Coast

On the heels of the 2014’s #35 ranking on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 wines of 2016, the 2015 bottling continues to affirm that Gap’s Crown is one of the top California Pinot noir vineyards. Steep slopes and rocky soils cause significant vine stress, and the resulting wines are concentrated, with complex flavors and phenomenal structure. Moderate weather in 2015 allowed for optimal picking conditions, and flavors were bursting as the grapes matured. Dark cherry and boysenberry aromas lead to hints of baking spice and thyme. This is a complex wine that makes a stunning first impression. In 2015 we fermented 10% of the grapes whole-cluster, adding to the wine’s rich character and aromatic complexity.

Sojourn Cellars

Sojourn Cellars produces highly acclaimed Pinot noir, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon wines. We source fruit from celebrated vineyards in both Sonoma and Napa counties, where we work closely with vineyard owners who use world-class growing methods for cultivating grapes of the highest quality. Our hands-off winemaking style allows the character and personality of these special vineyard sites to shine through in the finished wines.

At Sojourn, every single decision we make, every vineyard we work with, every person on our small team, and every hour spent in the winery is done to deliver an extraordinary experience to our customers. We love sharing our wines through the approachable and memorable tasting experiences in our Tasting Salon in Sonoma, as well as sharing our wines with our loyal mailing list members, at our events and in our homes. There’s little in life that surpasses a shared experience with others over a very special glass of wine. In everything we do, our goal is to deliver uniquely memorable wine sojourns.

We source Pinot noir from the windswept appellations along the rugged Sonoma Coast, as well as the cool Russian River Valley, where this varietal develops its finest expression. Each of our acclaimed Pinot noir vineyards including Gap’s Crown, Sangiacomo, Walala and Rodger’s Creek, imparts its own distinctive character to the grapes. Our site-specific wines possess unique and discernable qualities, which could come from nowhere else on earth.

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Medium ruby-purple in color, the 2015 Pinot Noir Gap's Crown Vineyard gives notes of fragrant earth, fallen leaves, tree sap and sautéed Provence herbs over a kirsch, red currant and cranberry core. Full-bodied, rich, concentrated, multi-layered and firmly structured, this is clearly Sojourn’s powerhouse Pinot of this vintage and man-o-man is it good!

Tight-grained tannin plays a supporting role to this wine's undeniable earthiness, a mix of compost and wild mushroom. Subtle on the nose, the savory character gives way eventually to a density and concentration of brighter flavors, from cherry and citrus to spiky pine.

90 points Wine Spectator

A zesty, vivacious style, with lots of energy amid the dark berry, spice, fresh earth and savory underbrush notes. The salient feature is the inherent complexity
