2015 Amulet Dancing Hares TB
Vintage : 2015
Country : USA
Region : Napa Valley
It began on back country roads and among the vines. The Beckstoffer family arrived in the Napa Valley in 1975 and the young son of a future pioneer spent his days in the vineyards throughout every growing season, cultivating deep roots.
Brought up to respect the land and its fruit, Tuck naturally sought out the practice of viticulture, learning from the masters around him. Much like his father before him, he is a farmer first. It was only after he mastered the art of first craft that he turned his attention to a second craft—winemaking. Over three decades after he first set foot in the valley, Tuck bottled his first wine. For him, it was not a whim or passion project, but the culmination of a life lived on the land, among the vines.
Today, Tuck is one of the few Napa stewards who is both a grower and a winemaker. It is this pedigree that makes his approach different: the process begins with the land itself and culminates with a reverence for the winemaking traditions of the past—sharing successes and failures among fellow craftsmen and appreciating the fruits of their labor over a beautiful bottle of wine.
About Dancing Hares Vineyard
Dancing Hares on Howell Mountain is owned by Paula Brooks and Bob Cook, and has the formidable wine team of David Abreu, Andy Erickson and Michel Rolland growing and creating a pair of wines. Dancing Hares and second wine Mad Hatter are both red blends. Total production is fewer than 1000 cases. Quality is exceptionally high.Dancing Hares has always been a red wine blend that features four of the Bordeaux varietals- Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The fruit is grown on our estate vineyard in the St Helena AVA within Napa Valley.
The 2015 vintage is no exception. The rocky and well-drained soil of our vineyard yields small berries and highly concentrated fruit. The 2015 estate blend features dark fruit aromatics- black current, blackberry, and plum. These fruit characters are balanced by black pepper, violet, lavender and a hint of licorice.
On the palate, the wine has full body with a bold structure that settles into a lingering and balanced finish. This wine is fruit forward and powerful in its youth, though will develop into a more complex, textured and sensitive wine with cellar age.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 95 Points
"The 2015 Dancing Hares Proprietary Red, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, is very deep purple-black in color with a nose of spice cake, plum pudding, crème de cassis, cigar box, licorice and menthol with a waft of dried herbs. Medium to full-bodied, fresh and concentrated with firm, fine-grained tannins, it finishes fresh and long. "
