Winemaker Notes
2018 PlumpJack Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
The warm growing season gave this wine it’s rich and dark character. The nose is filled with black cherry, blackberry, cassis, and fig, which is perfectly complimented by the classic PlumpJack sage and mint. The palate is silky upon entry and opens up to juicy blackberry and black cherry. The balanced acid and well-integrated tannin give this wine energy and length and leads to a beautiful raspberry and spice finish.
Blend: 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot
2017 DAOU Soul Of A Lion
Wine Advocate 97
Blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc and 8% Petit Verdot aged 22 months in 100% new French oak. It has a deep ruby-purple color and wonderfully unique expression, with scents of forest floor, underbrush, English breakfast tea, espresso, blackcurrant bud, dark chocolate and exotic flowers mingling over a core of perfectly ripe wild blackberries and Morello cherries, all complemented by a classy framing of new oak spices. The medium to full-bodied palate is slow to unfurl, with a frame like liquid silk and a very long finish that gives up layer after layer of nuanced flavors. Wow!
2000 Chateau D'Armailhac
Wine Spectator 92
The wine has a fine, dark red color with a garnet tint. The nose, both floral and full of fruit, reveals fine smoky notes. On the palate, well-balanced structure on forward mature tannins, mingles with red fruit flavors (redcurrant, blackcurrant), licorice and spices. The long, lingering finish, displaying a fine harmony between round and full-bodied tannins, bodes well for this characteristic vintage.
