Winemaker Notes
Juicy scents of yellow peach and pear are lifted by notes of grapefruit, candied citrus peel and a hint of white honey. Appealing bright fruit flavors of pear and balanced acidity lead to a full body and a long, unctuous finish with subtle brioche notes.
About Winery
Terrazas de los Andes’ journey to where the earth meets the sky began in the early 1990s, when adventurous French viticulturist Hervé Birnie-Scott ventured into the unexplored, high-altitude terraces of the Andes. Armed only with a WWI-era altimeter, his extensive cold-climate viticulture experience and a vision, Hervé set out to create fresh, site-specific wines from the most extreme reaches of this magical, mountainous place.
Because the other bodegas were farming heavy, conventional wines on the easily accessed, sun-burned plateaus of the Mendoza lowlands, the locals nicknamed Hervé “el loco francés” (the crazy Frenchman) for his years-long quest to capture the pure, fresh taste of the Andes from these high-risk but high-reward elevations that require extreme viticulture.
Today, Terrazas de los Andes farms a breathtaking mosaic of 200+ individual high-altitude wine terraces growing 100% pure mountain fruit, irrigated precisely and sustainably with pristine glacier water. With Malbec in the spotlight, the wines are full-bodied but elegantly aromatic and bright.
