1. 2018 Chateau Pape Clement, JD 99
"With their smoky and spicy bouquet, the red wines are of an admirable quality and a very characteristic softness. The wine is both concentrated, fine and harmonious, with an aromatic palette as wide as it is precise. The depth and length in the mouth are exceptional. Quality of the terroir, sustained efforts and dynamism have borne fruit bringing Pape Clément to a level very close to that of the premiers crus."
2. 2011 Chateau Montrose Saint Estephe, WE 94
"A fine and elegant robe, with beautiful intense and dark garnet. The nose, powerful and harmonious, is pleasantly woody. Aerated, it reveals lightly toasted aromas, followed with hints of ripe fruits and liquorice. The palate is full and soft with tight tannins and a light sweetness. The after-taste is long and harmonious."
3. 2005 Chateau Ferriere, Margaux, WS 91
"The 2005 vintage has produced a wine with an out‐ standing balance. The beautiful color is purple, dark and shiny. The nose is still very reserved and elegant with notes of black fruits and blond tobacco. The palate is powerful and structured, giving the impression of a great freshness. The final is long and elegant."
4. De Venoge Princes Brut 2nd Edition Etui
"Maison de Venoge resurrects the legendary Cuvée des Princes, created in 1864 by Joseph de Venoge as a tribute to the Princes of Orange. Its elegant decanter recalls the habits of the great European aristocracy of the early 20th century, who decanted champagne in crystal bottles.
Maison De Venoge's Cuvée Princes Brut 2nd Edition is a delicate, well-balanced brut champagne (dosage 5gr/liter) with 31% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 34% Meunier. The blend is based on the 2019 harvest, supplemented by 32% reserve wines.
Distinguished and lively, this champagne has a floral, persistent mouthfeel, with a light, abundant foam. The scents are both delicate and complex."
5. 2019 Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste Pauillac, WA 96
"Generous nose, I love the smell here, richly fruited. The palate is on the linear, darker side with liquorice and coffee tones, lean and muscular - without any extra fat. A little austere at this point but good freshness and some bright cherry flavours on the finish. Overall a dark, heady, deep style with plenty of power, just waiting to open and expand. Give it some time. "
6. 2011 Chateau Gazin, WA 93
"A powerful, virile 2011, Gazin reveals a dense ruby/purple color, a big, meaty, earthy richness, lots of coffee, black cherry liqueur and spice notes, and a full-bodied mouthfeel. It will benefit from another 3-4 years of cellaring and should keep for 15+ years. 93+"
7. 2013 Chateau Langoa-Barton, St-Julien, JS 92
"Dense purple color. The wine has a powerful aroma with notes of violets, blackberries, currants, licorice and chocolate. Balanced taste of dark fruit, soft vanilla and nuts. Juicy with velvety tannins and a long, delicious finish."
8. 2017 Chateau Le Gay, Pomerol, WS 94
"Showing beautifully in my tastings, the 2017 Chateau Le Gay makes the most of this solid vintage. Almost all Merlot from a great terroir on the plateau of Pomerol, it reveals a purple/ruby hue as well as medium to full-bodied notes of black cherry and cassis fruits, toasted spice, spring flowers, and damp earth. Shining more for its complexity and elegance than sheer power, it nevertheless has wonderful fruit, plenty of tannins, and a great finish. Give bottles 4-5 years of bottle age and enjoy over the following 15-20 years."
