Winemaker Notes
The 2014 J. Davies Estate Cabernet Sauvignon leads with rich aromas of dark red cherry, black plum, tobacco leaf, and white pepper. The palate is densely layered with fruitful flavors of cassis and blueberry, and supported by delicious undertones of cinnamon, clove, and coriander. The polished fine-grain tannins carry the flavors to a long finish.
Blend: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Malbec, 3% Petite Verdot
About Winery
In 1965, Jack and Jamie Davies began reviving the historic Schramsberg winery property in Napa Valley. They challenged conventional ideas and relied on innovation to craft the first world-class, American, méthode traditionelle sparkling wines produced from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In the 1990s, a second generation of the Davies family undertook replanting the estate on Diamond Mountain to red Bordeaux varieties, and J. Davies Estate Cabernet Sauvignon was launched with the 2001 vintage. In 2014, the family released the compelling and balanced 2012 Davies Vineyards single-vineyard Pinot Noirs, a logical evolution based on over 40 years’ experience with cool-climate Pinot Noir sites and grapes in the North Coast.

95 Points
A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon,17% Malbec and the rest Petit Verdot, this is another gorgeously elegant, beautiful wine with terrific purity, plenty of blue, red and black fruits, some floral notes, medium to full body, supple tannins and a layered mouthfeel that builds incrementally to a long, long finish. This superb wine represents a perfect style between the elegance of Bordeaux and the ripeness and exuberance of a Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink it over the next 20 years.- The Wine Advocate (December 2016)
