ABOUT THE TASTING:
Clos de Vougeot, the iconic walled Burgundy grand cru vineyard and appellation, has a centuries-long history that’s as fascinating as it is complex. The 50 hectares of vineyard in the Clos are shared by more than 80 growers, and it’s here that the concept of Burgundian terroir is taken to arguably its utmost expression.
This masterclass will be ably led by Charles Curtis MW, former head of wine for Christie’s in the Americas and Asia and author of The Original Grands Crus of Burgundy, a book that’s considered crucial reading for anyone who admires the wines of this region. Curtis will guide guests through twelve very different, very special wines from a range of growers and vineyard sites, enabling guests to build up a mental ‘taste roadmap’ for discovering this extraordinary appellation.

Time: 1:45PM - 3PM
Speaker: Saskia de Rothschild
Co-Host: CH’NG Poh Tiong
ABOUT THE TASTING:
Domaines Barons de Rothschild (DBR), owners of Château Lafite, made history in 2019 when they launched the first vintage from their Chinese estate, Domaine de Long Dai from Shandong province. The wine was more than a decade in the making: following a lengthy search for the right site, the yard land was purchased in 2009 and vines planted in 2017; it launched amid great excitement and high expectations. Through tasting four historic vintages of Château Lafite and four more recent vintages of Domaine de Long Dai, the masterclass will build up a sensory picture of the estate’s past, present and future, showing how the search for balance underpins viticulture and winemaking, be it in Bordeaux or in Shandong.
Saskia de Rothschild, executive chairwoman of DBR, who succeeded her father Baron Eric de Rothschild as the head of the family’s wine estates, will provide unparalleled insight during this historic East-meets-West masterclass.
