2017 Epoch Ingenuity
95 Jeb Dunnuck
This cuvée has shifted toward more Petite Sirah over the past few vintages, and the 2017 Ingenuity checks in as 56% Petite Sirah, 16% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah, and 13% Grenache. Blueberries, flowery incense, white pepper, and candied orange peel all give way to a sexy, ripe, full-bodied 2017 with sweet tannins and a great finish. Drink it over the coming decade.
2017 Antinori Tignanello
97 Wine Enthusiast
Aromas of cassis, menthol, blue flower and pipe tobacco shape the nose on this gorgeous red. A blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, the delicious, elegantly structured palate delivers dried black cherry, ripe blackberry, licorice and vanilla framed in taut, fine-grained tannins. Drink 2023–2029. Cellar Selection
2020 Daou Pessimist
92 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Deep ruby-purple, the 2020 Pessimist is a blend of 62% Petite Sirah, 18% Syrah, 18% Zinfandel and 2% Lagrein, matured for 10 months in 60% new French oak. It's scented of black cherries with touches of purple flowers, graphite and grilled meats, and the medium-bodied palate is grainy and fresh with a long, perfumed finish. This offers fantastic quality for the price.
2016 Tuck Beckstoffer Mad Hatter
92 James Suckling
Plenty of ripe blueberry and plum aromas here with a swathe of violet-like florals, too. The palate is succulent and fleshy with a long array of plush, supple tannins that carry ample depth and rich, fresh fruit to the finish. A blend of 48 per cent cabernet sauvignon, 40 per cent merlot, and 12 per cent petite sirah.
2018 Vin Perdu Red Wine Napa Valley
96 Wine Advovate
The 2018 Vin Perdu is a blend of 38% Syrah, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot, 11% Cabernet Franc and 6% Merlot. Deep garnet-purple in color, it comes skipping out of the glass with bright, cheery notes of baked black cherries, plum preserves and blueberry pie with an undercurrent of freshly cracked black pepper, bacon and underbrush with fragrant wafts of licorice and violets. Full-bodied, rich and oh-so-seductive in the mouth, the palate reveals amazingly velvety tannins and tons of freshness, finishing with epic length and many, many layers. Delicious
2018 J Lohr Seven Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon
91 Wine Enthusiast
For an affordable wine that’s available almost everywhere in the country, this bottling is hard to beat. Fresh aromas of black currant, elderberry, lilac, pepper and charcoal lead into a rich palate of cassis, oak and charred beef, all lifted by herbs and peppercorns
