2021 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
4.5 Vivino
Caymus has a signature style that is dark in color, with rich fruit and ripe tannins – as approachable in youth as in maturity. Since its founding in 1972, Caymus has become renowned as a consistent leader in the production of Napa Valley Cabernet. Grapes for this wine are farmed in a range of Napa’s sub-appellations – from Coombsville to Calistoga – with fruit from the valley floor creating lushness and the hillsides providing backbone. Diversification enables us to make the best possible wine in a given year, featuring layered, lush aromas and flavors, including cocoa, cassis and ripe berries.
2020 Martin Ray Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon
93 James Suckling
A fresh, fine-tannined cabernet with currants, blackberries and mulberries. Some pine-needle and dried-flower character, too. Medium body. Racy, fine finish.
2020 Michael David Earthquake
4,1 Vivino
Shattering the mold with off the chart, concentrated flavors, the 2020 Earthquake Cabernet is a force to be reckoned with. Deep ruby in hue, this wine opens with bold, layered aromas of dark plum, blackberry and mocha in the glass. Full bodied, this 2020 Cab is filled with intense flavors of boysenberry, espresso and toasted marshmallow leading to a trembling, oak-inspired finish.
2014 Beau Vigne Juliet Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
96 Wine Advocate
the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Juliet has 2% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc added in and is a slightly larger cuvée of 535 cases, which must make the owners happy, since I liked it even more than the Romeo. This wine, which has an opaque blue/purple color to the edge of the glass, offers notes of pen ink, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur, camphor, charcoal embers, and some graphite and background oak. It is full-bodied and again has that layered, multi-tiered mid-palate and stunningly pure, rich finish with no heaviness. Everything is integrated beautifully in this full-throttle yet opulent style of wine to drink over the next two decades (RP).
2013 Chateau Langoa Barton Saint Julien
92 points James Suckling
A firm and silky red with lots of currant, flower and citrus aromas and flavors. Medium to full body, integrated tannins and a long finish. Excellent for the vintage. Subtle finish. Drink or hold.
2018 J Lohr Seven Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon
91 Wine Enthusiast
For an affordable wine that’s available almost everywhere in the country, this bottling is hard to beat. Fresh aromas of black currant, elderberry, lilac, pepper and charcoal lead into a rich palate of cassis, oak and charred beef, all lifted by herbs and peppercorns
