Winemaker Notes
Our Glenmorangie Grand Vintage 1997 is like wandering the spectacular cellars of Chateau Montrose. Vivid with red fruits and candied sweetness, this whisky’s eloquence is a beautiful beacon for our kaleidoscope style. The whisky’s smooth spirit was distilled in 1997, two years into Dr Bill Lumsden’s time at our Distillery. On his quest to bring different tastes to the world, our Director of Whisky Creation had begun restyling every aspect of our whisky making, dreaming of an evermore expressive Glenmorangie.
About Winery
Glenmorangie, a renowned Scotch whisky distillery, was founded in 1843 by William Matheson and his wife Anne, who converted a local brewery in Tain, Scottish Highlands, into a distillery. The distillery, whose name means "Valley of Tranquility" in Gaelic, has a history marked by both tradition and innovation in its whisky-making process. Initially a family-run business, Glenmorangie has seen ownership changes, expansions, and the development of its unique distillation process, including the use of the tallest stills in Scotland.
