2014 Zeitgeist Cabernet
Winemaker Notes
This blend of 99.5% Cabernet and 0.5% Petit Verdot reminds us of berry compote on first smell. It is confident and dense as it coats your palate. Rich mocha flavors and pointed scents of spice fill the center of the wine. The tannins are fine and slightly chewy. This wine will age beautifully for years.
Hint Mystery Bottle 1
Decanter 94
It is distinguished by the dominance of Pinot Noir in its blend, which gives strength, complexity and elegance to the champagne.
Hint Mystery Bottle 2
James Suckling 91
Rich notes of blackberry pie, cassis, and clove, with toasted oak, subtle green peppercorn and touches of butterscotch on the finish. Striking and rich.
Hint Mystery Bottle 3
Pale straw in color, offering aromas of honeysuckle, ripe pear, Meyer lemon, and lychee. These delicious aromas are complemented on the palate by cool climate minerality, rich texture, and a spritz of natural carbonation on the finish.
Hint Mystery Bottle 4
Wine Advocate 90
Premium Merlot and this estate vineyard blend represents our best. The elegance and old world structure of Seven Hills Vineyard adds complexity to the earthiness and minerality of the basalt soil from Ferguson.
Hint Mystery Bottle 5
James Suckling 92
Bright and lean with Granny Smith apple skins, Yuzu and underripe apricot on the front. Fresh squeezed lemon juice layered over fleshy pineapple, almond hulls, and subtle white pepper. Mouthwatering salinity interlaced with a hint of caramel, and bracing acidity throughout.

About Winery
Zeitgeist Cellars is a collaboration between husband and wife, Mark Porembski (winemaker at Anomaly Vineyards and Lost Cellars) and Jennifer Williams (former winemaker at Spottswoode Estate and current winemaker at Arrow&Branch and Ziata). We make the wine ourselves at Behrens Family Winery.
In pursuit of fine wine at fair prices, we employ conscientious selection at each step while doing the work ourselves. We’ve committed to a handful of carefully chosen vineyards, sort vigilantly through the fruit at harvest, and bottle only the best barrels. Our goal is to be thoughtful in our approach and simple in our methods. We make each exceptionally small batch of wine ourselves and guide them carefully through fermentation and aging. The results are two beautiful Heritage white varietals and a small stable of excellent Cabernet Sauvignons.

"The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from four separate AVAs: Coombsville, St. Helena, Yountville and Oakville. There is plenty of crème de cassis fruit, an inky purple color, notes of charcoal, toast, blackcurrants, and spicy oak are present in this dense, full-bodied opulently concentrated wine. It is multi-layered, impressive and has the silky suppleness of the 2014 vintage as a hallmark. Drink it over the next 15-20+ years."
Winehours notes:
Zeitgeist Cellars is a collaboration between husband and wife winemaking team, Mark Porembski and Jennifer Williams. Mark’s wife, a California native, Jen entered the wine business through the vineyard beginning with a degree in agriculture from Cal Poly. She was the winemaker for Spottswoode Winery and many other popular wineries. Zeitgeist is a product of this intimacy.
