Faiveley Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru

Vintage :Choose Your Vintage

Region : Cote de Nuit, Burgundy

Country : France

2020 | D 96

The wine has an inky dark colour and pronounced aromas of blackberry, fig, smoke and spice. The texture is lush, yet there are firm tannins and the wine never seems overbearing or aggressive - everything is kept in elegant balance. Faiveley is the proprietor of three parcels that total 1.27ha in the Clos de Vougeot, including a portion in Grand Maupertuis and two parcels nearer the bottom. The fruit was picked very ripe (14.5%) and partially destemmed before fermentation, with a very careful extraction and ageing in cask (half new).

2021 | WS 94

Deep ruby red color with floral notes of rose and violet, hints of red and dark berries, and subtle oak. It has a smooth attack followed by robust, powerful tannins and a long finish

2022 | JS 96

Very fleshy, suave and fragrant. This has excellent concentration and beautiful harmony of ripe fruit with fine toasty, smoky oak plus ample velvety tannins. The finesse at the front is every bit as impressive as the structure that builds in the long finish. From organically grown grapes from a 1.3-hectare plot. Matured in 50% new oak and 50% once-used oak. Drinkable now, but best from 2027.

About Winery

Domaine Faiveley, founded in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley in Nuits-Saint-Georges, is one of Burgundy’s most historic family-owned estates, now led by the seventh generation, Erwan Faiveley. Over nearly two centuries, the domaine has expanded its holdings across prestigious appellations, acquiring iconic vineyards such as Corton Clos des Cortons Faiveley—a rare grand cru monopole—and parcels in Clos Vougeot and other renowned crus. Each generation has contributed to its growth, with François Faiveley extending the estate’s reach in the late 20th century, and Erwan modernizing winemaking practices while preserving tradition. Today, Domaine Faiveley is celebrated for producing terroir-driven wines that balance authenticity with contemporary refinement, making it a cornerstone of Burgundy’s legacy.
