Tasting Notes
The Claude Dugat La Gibryotte Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru opens with aromas of cherry, raspberry, and red plum, accented by violet florals, smoke, and earthy notes of ash and fresh soil. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, supple yet structured, with bright acidity and silky tannins that frame red fruit purity alongside subtle spice and oak hints. The finish is long, mineral-driven, and balanced, showing youthful austerity but excellent aging potential. This wine is approachable in youth but best enjoyed after several years of cellaring, with a drinking window from 2030 onward for optimal complexity.
About Winery
Domaine Claude Dugat is located in Gevrey-Chambertin, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, and has been in the Dugat family since the 19th century. Claude’s father, Maurice, purchased the historic Grange des Dîmes in 1955, converting it into a winery. Claude Dugat established the domaine in its modern form in 1991, quickly gaining cult status for his concentrated yet elegant Pinot Noirs. Today, the estate farms about 6 hectares, including prestigious sites like Lavaux Saint-Jacques, Charmes-Chambertin, and Griottes-Chambertin. Since 2015, Claude’s children—Bertrand, Laetitia, and Jeanne—have taken over, shifting toward organic and biodynamic farming and more restrained cellar practices, emphasizing purity, terroir, and finesse. The domaine remains small and highly sought after, producing wines that balance richness with precision.
