2016 Sojourn Gap Crown vineyard Pinot Noir
Vintage : 2016
Country : USA
Region : Sonoma Coast
We source Pinot noir from the windswept appellations along the rugged Sonoma Coast, as well as the cool Russian River Valley, where this varietal develops its finest expression. Each of our acclaimed Pinot noir vineyards including Gap’s Crown, Sangiacomo, Walala and Rodger’s Creek, imparts its own distinctive character to the grapes. Our site-specific wines possess unique and discernable qualities, which could come from nowhere else on earth.
Our 2016 bottling of the Gap’s Crown Vineyard Pinot noir continues to affirm this vineyard as one of the brightest stars in California. After the 2014’s #35 ranking on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 wines of 2016, and the 2015’s 95-point score from Robert Parker, the 2016 follows strongly with robust flavors and excellent structure. Much of this wine’s concentration derives from the site’s steep slopes and rocky soils, complemented by severe drought conditions and the tiny berries that resulted. The wine’s signature dark cherry aroma is enhanced by 10% whole cluster fermentation, adding depth and texture for a long complex finish.
Gap’s Crown Vineyard, Sonoma Coast, Petaluma Gap. Gap’s Crown Vineyard sits near the town of Cotati at an elevation of 300 to 800 feet, where it overlooks the Sangiacomo Vineyard just to the west. This is a high-end, hillside vineyard that has established itself as a premium source for top rated Pinot noir and Chardonnay wines vintage after vintage.
