About Winery
Inniskillin Winery is a pioneering estate winery located in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1975 by Donald Ziraldo and Karl Kaiser, Inniskillin was the first winery to receive a license in Canada since Prohibition. The winery played a crucial role in establishing the modern Canadian wine industry and is renowned for its award-winning ice wines. Inniskillin's first ice wine harvest occurred in 1984, using Vidal grapes protected by nets to prevent loss to birds. The winery gained international recognition in 1991 when its Vidal Icewine won the Grand Prix d'Honneur at Vinexpo in Bordeaux, France. Today, Inniskillin continues to produce high-quality wines from its vineyards in the Niagara Peninsula and the Okanagan Valley
