2017 Del Dotto Caves Cabernet Sauvignon | Vivino 4.5
"A classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The bouquet is dense, exuding roasted espresso, dark chocolate, crushed rock and boysenberry puree. The mid-palate is lush and seductive, with good minerality and intriguing spice. A quintessential Napa Valley Cabernet at a very attractive price, this medium-bodied beauty can be tucked away and enjoyed over the next decade."
2018 Michael David Earthquake Zinfandel | WE 91
"This is a luxurious, deeply flavorful wine that's drenched in blackberry, blueberry and dark chocolate flavors and wrapped in soft tannins for a smooth mouthfeel. Aged in mostly American oak barrels (80% new), it is also amply accented by oak spices like vanilla and nutmeg."
2016 Epoch Estate Blend | WE 96
"Dense in the glass, this blend of 58% Syrah, 19% Mourvèdre, 17% Grenache and 6% Tempranillo begins with intensely smoky dark fruits as well as blackberry jam, violet, wild sage and mint. The mouthfeel is full and rich, framed by smooth tannins that rise on the midpalate alongside flavors of mocha, gingerbread and black fruits."
2019 Rombauer Zinfandel | WE 91
"This richly layered berry-and-chocolate parfait of a wine exudes blackberries, black plums and milk chocolate on a creamy, smooth texture. A full body, soft tannins and a mouthcoating richness give it plenty of personality."
2017 Caymus Special Select Cabernet Sauvignon | WS 94
"Lush and very forward, with velvety textured waves of cassis, mulled plum and blackberry reduction mixed with flashes of mocha and roasted vanilla. Long, with seamless structure letting the fruit play out. For the hedonist crowd."
2018 DAOU Discovery Cabernet Sauvignon | WA 92
"This entry-level Cabernet Sauvignon is the only Cabernet in the Daou portfolio made entirely of purchased fruit and is intended to be drunk young. The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is made up of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc aged 11 months in 60% new French oak. Deep ruby-purple, it opens with pure crème de cassis and meaty touches, slow to unfurl, over pure blackberries, cedar and dried thyme. Medium to full-bodied, it explodes with flavor in the mouth, purely defined but very ripe, with a very finely grained frame and a youthful cloaking of new oak, finishing long, fresh and classy. "
2018 JLohr Hilltop Cabernet Sauvignon | WE 93
"This widely available bottling remains a very wise choice for the price point. Dark in the glass, it begins with cassis, pie crust and baking spice on the nose, yet there’s a savory black-olive touch as well. Firm yet polished tannins carry dark fruit, cocoa and light licorice through the dense palate."
