Winemaker Notes
The 2019 HdV Ygnacia Pinot Noir is a rich, complex wine with notes of strawberry, rhubarb, rose, and Oolong tea, leading to a darker, more brooding character with hints of pomegranate, pie crust, and anise. It features velvety tannins, a fresh and bright acidity, and a concentrated, full-bodied palate with a smoky undertone. The wine is described as gorgeous, resonant, and possessing significant textural richness, showcasing the unique characteristics of the Hyde Vineyard.

The 2019 Pinot Noir Ygnacia comes from five massal selections in the Hyde Vineyard, planted in 2020. It was made with destemmed grapes and matured for 18 months in 20% new French oak. It has a medium ruby-purple color and expressive cranberry sauce, red cherries, orange peel, forest floor and mushroom aromas. The light-bodied palate is fresh and chalky, with pure, flinty fruits and a long finish. Give it another 2-3 years in bottle to unwind. (EB)

Lots of violets, roses and hibiscus with some dried strawberry on the nose. Full-bodied with smoky, smooth tannins and lovely balance and freshness. Hints of smoked meat to the fruit. Firm and bright.

The 2019 Pinot Noir Ygnacia Hyde Vineyard is a blend of five clones off the ranch. Rich, deep and beautifully resonant, the 2019 is absolutely gorgeous. It is interesting to see how the Hyde Pinot is quite different from the Chardonnays in that there is quite a bit more textural richness here. Rose petal, lavender, kirsch, mint and mocha build effortlessly, especially as the wine opens with a bit of air. (AG)
