Walla Walla is undoubtedly a warm place, yet cabernet here sits at the edge of where it can ripen, reflecting an expression of place that’s paradoxically cool in its savor, its scents of mint, tobacco and mocha, with a palpable, edgy tension. Sourced in part from estate vines at Ferguson and Seven Hills, this wine’s dark red fruits are marked by plenty of tobaccoscented tannins. The wine, by the way, is a steal.
93 James Suckling
Aromas of black fruit, barbecued meat and ground spice. Medium-to-full-bodied with fine, slightly chewy tannins. Rich, with eucalyptus and herbal character. Well structured, with very good concentration. Best after 2024
92 Wine Enthusiast
The aromas draw you into the glass, with notes of coffee, spice, blackberry, dark chocolate and black cherry. The palate is full of dark fruit flavors, fuller around the edges, lighter in the middle. Lightly grainy tannins back it up, with it all showing the freshness of the vintage. Over time, there’s a creaminess to the flavors that ups the appeal. Cocoa notes linger on the finish. It should have a long life ahead of it. Decant if drinking in the near term. Best after 2027, with a long life beyond that.
